Leaven is a raised toaster that lives suspended beneath your cabinets.

But why raise a toaster?

Counter space is limited in many people's kitchens.
Why should the toaster compete for real estate with other appliances?
The solution: re-imagine where your toaster resides

Initial ideation focused mainly on concept exploration, which gradually focused on the idea of a space-saving, suspended toaster.
Form features were further considered as the concept developed.
To guide aesthetic decisions, inspiration was taken from the iconic Herman Miller brand.

Research was also done on existing toasters to evaluate potential areas for further innovation within the product market.

Customizable cooking settings give users versatility in their toasting options.
The induction heated plate and infrared heating panel work together to evenly brown breads and baked goods without flipping them.
Users may also choose to toast something on a specific side, by using either the induction or infrared heating independently.

Mix-n-match colorways:
Three monochrome housing options and three wood finishes

Given the nature of induction cooking, the ceramic toasting tray will cool rapidly.
This means toast lovers will be able to place the tray directly on tablecloths or other surfaces without worrying about damage from residual heat.
