This concrete-frame lounge chair was designed as an exploration of surface modelling techniques in SolidWorks, and material mapping and exploration in KeyShot.
Watch the modelling process below.
The shape of the upholstered seat is simple, to balance the dynamic features of the concrete frame. The two sides of the frame and the support bracers separating them are designed so that they could be individually cast in concrete and bonded together. Details and imperfections were modeled into the surface of the concrete portions to further mimic the rough texture.

The concrete armrests are lined with slim cushions, which are affixed with fabric straps.

This quirky design embraces retro shapes and unusual material choices to create a one of a kind piece of furniture.
